Patent paralegal and assistant office manager
What has your career at 2SPL been like so far?
I started as a trainee patent paralegal at 2SPL. During my training, I was given the opportunity to get to know all aspects of the profession, including tasks with much responsibility such as deadline management.
After successfully completing my training, I was also given the position of assistant office manager. In this role, I manage the operational handling of cases, assist the attorneys and the office team with questions regarding office processes and work closely with the office manager to optimize and redefine processes.
Every client is different, which makes the work particularly exciting.

Why did you decide to train as a patent paralegal at 2SPL?
My professional journey initially began with training as a foreign language correspondent, but I quickly realized that I wanted to build on this. When I heard about the profession of patent paralegal, it immediately appealed to me. My first training was an ideal basis for this.
When I arrived at 2SPL and saw two dogs running around, I knew that this was the place for me. During my training, my training supervisor and the entire team looked after me. The lawyers were also always there to help me.
What do you like best about your job?
What I like best about my job is that I can work very independently. The patent attorneys have great confidence in us. Independent work is expressly encouraged.
The work is extremely varied, and you always learn something new. Dealing with deadlines, correspondence with clients and authorities, submissions to authorities – all this is part of my job. Every client is different, which makes the work particularly exciting.
Is there an experience at 2SPL that in particular stands out?
I still remember the first important client visit during my training. I was unsure whether I should remove my facial piercings. But my trainer encouraged me to just be myself. For me, this is a wonderful expression of the diversity and acceptance that prevails at 2SPL. No one here has to play a role that doesn’t suit them.
What do you like best about 2SPL?
The informal corporate culture (“du” culture), the relaxed interaction with each other and the friendly working atmosphere. The flexibility to work remotely is also particularly valuable for me as a commuter. There is a team day once a month so that the team spirit does not suffer. Joint activities are also organized outside the office. For example, we recently went to play laser tag together. I thought that was really cool.
What three words would you use to describe 2SPL?
Genuine, friendly and individual because everyone can bring their own character to the table.
